World Cup 5

The first image as I switched on the telly is a full face close-up of the North Korean striker – Jong Tai-Se crying as he sings his national anthem. Poignant. Couple that with his impressive forays in the Brazilian half and you have a new star of the sport. Apparently this guy has S Korean parents, plays in Japan and defected to the North. Treis Cool.

Halftime now and North Korea is holding their own against Brazil. Sure Brazil has the lion’s share of possession but there was nary a threat or a strike that looked like it could beat the defence. The so called big star Kaka was playing like caca in french.

A sigh of relief as Maicon scores from an impossible angle. He was almost at the byeline and the audacity to attempt a shot rather than a cross was rewarded. Thus far he had been one of the few Brazilians pushing his weight. Or perhaps the left back side is a weak link to this impressive N Korean defensive wall. That’s not good news since I’m actually hoping that N Korea will beat or at least draw against Portugal.

Anyway this referee is not very good. Luckily there isn’t much stuff for him to referee. Compared to the Mexican referee in the Germany vs Australia matched who gave two yellow cards to the Germans for diving and on the instant replay looked spot-on.

Final score: 2-1. The plucky N Koreans pulled one back!
