Foodcourt @ Toowong Village

It’s quite remarkable that eight days into the country, tonight is the first time I bought food. In the end I chose $6.80 shoyu ramen in the foodcourt at Toowong village, over the $12.80 claypot rice at Laksa hut, a completely empty place down the road. It was not too bad, but of course a far cry from the catered food at the college, where there is salad, fruits, carbs and meat. Looks like I’m going to start eating poorly come next week.

Checked out more prices, it costs $20 for a haircut at Toowong, which means I can only cut my hair once every two months. Another funny thing is how everyone thinks I’m a student. It’s probably the big laptop backpack that I’m lugging around. When I took the bus at the uni, the conductor automatically gave me a concession $2.40 ticket. I had to correct it to a $4.80 ticket (100% markup) although nobody would actually check.

  1. There’s supposed to be a $10 haircut place at Chinatown, so you can cut your hair more frequently if you go there.
